The Government Inspector - By Nikolai Gogol

Directed by Trevor Hodgson

Four perfomances were held on 14, 15 and 16 October 2021. The Government Inspector was HTC's first production after the hiatus of the national lockdown.

The director Trevor Hodgson chose this play having first seen it perfomed by The Young Vic in 2011. The Government Inspector is a story of corruption and farce set in 19th Century Russia. The play was perfomed in "the round" on the floor of The Henfield Hall as oppose to being on the main stage. Audiences were treated to a riot of misunderstanding and mayhem, where a simple case of mistaken identity exposed the hypocrisy and corruption at the heart of the small town's bureacratic and well bribed administration. All put together with jazz suite music from Shostakovitch the production was a great success.
