Frequently Asked Questions
Q Dear Agony Aunt
I have been interested in performing for a long time but I've never had enough confidence. My friends and family say I have talent but the thought of going on stage scares me. Can you help?
A Of course we can! If you become a member there are a number of workshops you can attend which will help you increase your confidence and improve your skills, whilst letting you explore different aspects of theatre – and remember, no-one is going to push you into doing anything – you just do as much as you feel comfortable with. Good Luck!
Q Dear Agony Aunt
I've recently become interested in drama and I would love to become a member of a society, so a good mate of mine suggested you. I was wondering if I need any experience of performing as I have none yet. Thank you.
A You don't need any experience at all !!! Just come along to our workshops or audition for a show and you will be surprised at what you will achieve and learn and the amount of fun you will have with us. I hope you will consider our Company – we always welcome new recruits.
Hope to see you!
Q Dear Agony Aunt
Please help me, I really want to join the Henfield Theatre Company but I don't know what to do or even how much it costs. I've tried asking my mum but she doesn't know either! I'm really confused and scared about going on my own, is there any information you can give me?
A Don't worry! I know it may seem scary at first, but everyone at HTC is really friendly, and I'm sure you would make friends straight away! To join it costs £5 for a year – see below for more details.
See you there!
JOINING THE COMPANY
It's very simple, really.
You pay £5 to be a member for one year.
The year runs from 1st July.
If would like to audition before joining, and you have never been a member before, you pay just £1 to audition. Then if you get a part you'll need to become a member by paying the other £4.
The only other costs are when you are in a show – sometimes there is a small 'acting fee', to cover costs.
AUDITIONS
Recruit: Oh no, auditions, what do I do?
Audition Angel: It's ok, I'm the Audition Angel – there's no need to worry.
Recruit: But it's so scary – I mean, I can't even sing, let alone dance.
Audition Angel: They're not there to see what you can't do, they're there to see what you can do! Just go along, you'll see, it's loads of fun!
Recruit: So they won't be mean to me?
Audition Angel: Of course not! everyone's really friendly, and nobody forces you to do anything.
Recruit: Yeah, I guess you're right – thanks Audition Angel!
Audition Angel: No problemo, kiddo, see ya!
